Welcome
The Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, is hosting the 6th International Symposium on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service, organized by the Transportation Research Board, Committee AHB40, in Stockholm, Sweden, June 28-July 1, 2011. We welcome our colleagues from around the world to this major international event.
The program covers the latest developments in highway and transportation capacity and quality of service, including the recent edition of the Highway Capacity Manual, HCM 2010. Discussions on future developments of the Manual, as well as related select country reports will be some of the major topics of the Symposium. During the Symposium, the TRB Committee on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service will also hold its midyear meeting to review recent research initiatives and activities (open to all attendees).
As we enter the second decade of this millennium the TRB Committee on Highway Capacity is looking forward to the contributions of the 6th International Symposium to better understand the use of advanced traffic management strategies to increase the capacity and improve the performance of traffic systems, as well as to better assessing the impact of design on capacity and level of service of traffic facilities.
The Symposium is of particular interest to researchers, consultants, organizations, and practitioners, involved in the planning, design, and operations of traffic facilities.
On behalf of the technical and local organizing committees,
